DESCRIPTION:The Appledore Music Festival presents a Christmas Ceilidh with the Appledore Festival Ceilidh Band. The event will be at St Mary’s Church Hall on Sunday 21 December 2025. Any surplus funds will be ploughed into the 2026 festival\, which runs from 28 May to 1 June. \nThe Appledore Ceilidh Band formed specially for the 2024 Appledore Music Festival. They were the highlight of the festival\, with an unforgettable shindig at St Mary’s Church Hall. Since then they have gone from strength to strength. Tickets are priced at £10 in advance or £12:50 on the door. Hurry\, they’re selling fast. Click here to purchase. \nThe band will lead you step-by-step through a fun and frenetic evening of family-friendly dancing and frivolity. The caller\, Sophie Randles-Dunkley\, is a popular local musician who has organised many a ceilidh. A talented celtic band will be providing the jigs and reels with a few festive surprises. All are welcome. \nNo experience or innate dancing ability is required. The evening is guaranteed to be a hoot. For the ceilidh virgins amongst us\, a ceilidh involves the caller explaining a sequence of dance moves to a group of people who then dance along to the live music. Wonderful stuff! \nDoors open at 7pm for a 7:30 start. There will be a well-stocked bar on the night.

This amazing building is constructed from ceramic tiles and stands 6 metres tall. Inside is an intimate space that can comfortably seat 20 people with room for the performers. “Tunes in the Temple” was inaugurated at 2024’s Appledore Music Festival. Inside is an intimate space that can comfortably seat 20 people with room for the performers.  \nThe temple is located upstairs in Sandy Brown’s studio in Appledore’s New Quay Street EX39 1LU. The studio building is unmissable with its brightly painted exterior and enormous windows. You will be sitting on the ceramic floor of the temple so it is recommended to bring a cushion or blanket for comfort. And bring your own refreshments too. There are four ceramic stools available to sit on for people who have difficulty sitting on the floor. \nTickets are £10 per person including all fees. Book now as spaces are strictly limited.

DESCRIPTION:Becki Driscoll of Rootnotes (rootnotes.org.uk) is holding a family music workshop at Appledore Baptist Church\, as part of the 2026 Appledore Music Festival. It will take place at 2pm on Saturday 30 May. \nChildren of all ages are welcome. There will be lots of instruments to try. The session will involve\, following a warm up\, some or all of these activities: \n\nLearn and sing a simple round\nExplore the instruments\nLearn a simple pattern on the instruments\nPlay as a band\nsinging with a songwriting exercise around a sea shanty.\n\nThis event is free but tickets must be booked in advance. Please reserve your tickets at the festival ticketing web site. Book a ticket for each adult and child in your family group. \nAt 3:30pm\, soon after the workshop ends\, there will be a RootNotes family concert in the Baptist Church which will feature music from the workshop. We hope families will be able to stay for the concert. \nRootNotes is a Bideford-based community music organisation\, run by local musician Becki Driscoll. RootNotes offers music workshops for all ages and all abilities in a variety of different settings. DESCRIPTION:Find Your Feet in a Folk Session! \nSophie Randles-Dunkley\, the leader of Festival favourites The Appledore Ceilidh Band\, is hosting a folk music workshop. \nOpen music sessions are one of the most welcoming and joyful parts of the folk music tradition\, with players cramming into pubs across the land to play tunes together til the wee small hours. \nEver fancied joining a folk session but felt too nervous to turn up and play? You’re not alone.  \nIn this relaxed workshop\, members of the Appledore Ceilidh Band will help you discover the simple pleasure of joining in. We’ll teach a tune (maybe two if time allows) by ear\, then play together as a group so you can experience the magic of a session in action. \nAll instruments are welcome. You should be able to play your instrument at a basic level and be comfortable playing in G and D major. DESCRIPTION:Come to hear the amazing Nick Wyke and Becki Driscoll perform inside an actual temple made of ceramic tiles. “Tunes in the Temple” was inaugurated at 2024’s Appledore Music Festival. It takes place inside Sandy Brown’s temple. This amazing building is constructed from ceramic tiles and stands 6 metres tall. Inside is an intimate space that can comfortably seat 20 people with room for the performers.  \nThe musical partnership of Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll has its roots in the traditional music of South West England but explores a contemporary sound that draws on inspiration from across the globe. Their latest album Cold Light bridges the gap between past and present with a mixture of traditional dance tunes\, new compositions and self-penned songs. Visit Nick and Becki’s website to learn more. \nThe temple is located upstairs in Sandy Brown’s studio in Appledore’s New Quay Street EX39 1LU. The studio building is unmissable with its brightly painted exterior and enormous windows. You will be sitting on the ceramic floor of the temple so it is recommended to bring a cushion or blanket for comfort. And bring your own refreshments too. There are four ceramic stools available to sit on for people who have difficulty sitting on the floor. \nTickets are £12 in advance including booking fee. The caller\, Sophie Randles-Dunkley\, is a popular local musician who has organised many a ceilidh. A talented celtic band will be providing the jigs and reels. All are welcome.  \nNo experience or innate dancing ability is required. The evening is guaranteed to be a hoot. For the ceilidh virgins amongst us\, a ceilidh involves the caller explaining a sequence of dance moves to a group of people who then dance along to the live music. Wonderful stuff!
