Appledore Music Festival takes place throughout Appledore. In local pubs, the Seagate Hotel, a café or two and Sandy Brown’s studio. Some events are outdoors on the quay. And there is a special festival ceilidh at the church hall.
Accessibility
The indoor venues used during the Appledore Music Festival have different levels of access for people with disabilities. See the list below.
- The Champ: Although the bar area and the toilets are step-free, access is poor for wheelchair users due to space limitations, especially if the small bar is busy. No disabled toilet.
- Beaver Inn: The main bar area is accessible via the side door. There are a few steps to the toilets. No disabled toilet.
- Seagate Hotel: Bar and toilets fully accessible
- Royal Hotel: Step-free access to bar and toilets. No disabled toilet.
- Sandy Brown’s Studio: There are 20 steps up to the studio, with handrails on both sides. The toilet is up a further narrow set of steps.
- Coffee Cabin: Step free access to lower floor and toilet. No disabled toilet.
- St Mary’s Church Hall: Step-free access to hall and toilets.
Accommodation
There is a good range of accommodation available if you plan to visit Appledore for the festival. We hope you do. The aforementioned Seagate Hotel may have rooms available. There are many holiday cottages and AirBNB rooms that can be found through the usual channels. If there is no room in Appledore, stay in one of surrounding towns or villages.
Campervans and Motorhomes
The car park on the quay, Churchfield car park, allows campervans and motorhomes to stay overnight, at a cost of £15. Find more information on Torridge Council’s web site. The car park is ideally located, being opposite the Seagate and five minutes’ walk or less to all the festival events.
Food
See the food page on this web site for more information about food available at the festival. As well as the vendors listed on that page, there are several local restaurants, including the Beaver, the Seagate, Flame Factory, the Royal George and The Yard. They are all going to be busy, so book ahead.
Transport
There is a bus that serves Appledore, route 21A. This connects with the train station at Barnstaple, where there is an hourly train service to Exeter. The transport offering isn’t brilliant, tbh, though the last 21A departs Appledore at 23:35 (22:35 on Sundays) which isn’t bad. We encourage all visitors to come by public transport but we understand if you don’t.
Car Parking
Appledore has a number of council-run car parks, all within 10 minutes of the festival venues. Charges apply during the day, free after 6pm, which is nice.
